DSSC and Mt. Apo Coffee Farms, Inc. Forge Partnership to Advance Coffee Research and Sustainable Agriculture

Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) and Mt. Apo Coffee Farms, Inc. signed a memorandum of agreement aimed in advancing the coffee research and innovation in the region by promoting sustainable agriculture practices and providing educational opportunities for students in agriculture and related studies.

The signing ceremony was held on May 29, 2023 at the DSSC Office of the President and were attended by Mr. Philip Marco G. Dizon, the Chief Finance Officer of the PSD Group of Companies and Dr. Augie E. Fuentes, DSSC President and witnessed by the officials from both parties. The agreement outlines the objectives and terms of the partnership, which include the establishment of a coffee research area, the development of training programs for students and farmers, and the promotion of sustainable farming practices in Agroforestry and Coffee Development Center (ACDC) in Sitio Bacoco, Brgy. Kapatagan, Digos City, Davao del Sur. This will be primarily handled by DSSC along with providing technical expertise and the integration of coffee education into its curriculum.

On the other hand, the Mt. Apo Coffee Farms, Inc., will provide the land area and other necessary facilities and resources for the implementation of the programs.

The partnership between DSSC and Mt. Apo Coffee Farms, Inc. is a significant milestone towards promoting a science-based agriculture practices. By working together, the two organizations will have a long-lasting positive impact by creating a sustainable model for coffee production that benefits both the environment and the local community.
